CLASSES

Whether you're a novice or experienced, we offer a full range of knitting and crochet classes and open knitting sessions at Strings & Stitches. If you're stuck on a project or looking for new ideas, stop in and see us. Class projects will include knitting, crocheting, garment construction, pattern reading, basic socks, beginning lace, felting, fair isle knitting, entrelac, domino knitting, and so much more! Classes are available days, evenings, and weekends (see schedule), and are updated monthly. To register for a class, pease call us at 706-698-KNIT (5648). Individual instruction is also available, upon request, at our hourly rates of $10.00/hour.

Febuary Schedule

As we experience the cold of winter and the North GA snow, knitting is a perfect way to deal with that cabin fever. Strings & Stitches has some great projects for your enjoyment of the indoor time during February.

Cathy is doing a beautiful colorful scarf called the Morning Surf Scarf designed by that popular lace designer, Jackie Erickson Schweitzer. Jackie teaches at the Folk School and has scored another hit with this design. Cathy has used Rowan Tapestry to interpret the design, but you can pick from several yarns @ Strings & Stitches. This class is a good beginning lace and will be 2 classes starting Feb 12 and 19th for $20 both classes. Come see the sample and make your selection. Class will be from 1-3pm.

Kris will be teaching her amazing Entrelac Shawl. This creation has a delicate lace trim edging that will inspire you to use it again and again on other knitted items. Kris made her shawl from Jojoland's Rhythm but we have several yarns that will make this shawl your special creation. Classes will start Feb 5th and will be for 4 classes from 10-12 noon. $40 for all classes. Come see the model!

Basic Socks will be on Mondays from 2-4pm. Karen will start the first class on Feb 2nd. Remember, you must be able to knit, purl, K2TOG and SSK without instruction. This class will teach you to make a basic sock on one long circular, or two short circular needles. Come prepared to have fun and learn the basic anatomy of the top down sock. Come sign up and make your selection for your first sock. $40 for all 4 classes.

Karen will also be teaching the Swagger Jacket on Mondays from 10-12noon starting Feb 2. This class may be already sold out but call and check. These classes will run for 4-6 classes and will be $40 for all the classes. Come to the first class with your gauge swatch done.

On Fridays 10-12noon, Karen will be teaching the slip-stitch, cable felted bag from She-Knits. This is a quick knit and is a great beginning cable project for those of you that want to learn cabling. We will start on Feb 20th and finish on 26th. Our last class we will felt the project. These two classes will be $20

Vickie is taking the month off and may be on a boat with her hubby Peter. We look forward to having her back in the lineup soon! Her next project is in the shop...the sampler shawl. Come take a look!

Beginning Knitting will continue as follows: Wednesdays 10:30-12noon, Thursdays 5:30-7pm, Saturdays 10:30-12noon. This is your first class to learn to knit, purl, cast on, and bind off. You will make a scarf as your first project. $30 for 4 classes.

Beginning Crochet is individually scheduled. Call to schedule. If you need help with a crochet project, schedule with an individual instructor. $10 per hour for individual instruction time.

For March projects, Cathy is working on a basic short sleeve pullover that will make a great first garment project. Kris is working on a cotton short sleeve shell that has cables and will take your cable ability to the next level from the felted purse. Karen is working on a round afghan that is a lacy doily done in worsted wool blend.

Come join us for our Sit 'N Stitch time on Wednesdays from 12 to 4pm. Great friends and camaraderie!

As always, patterns and yarns for the projects must be bought at Strings & Stitches. To reserve your place in the class, class fees must be paid. Cancellations will be accepted up until 48 hours prior to class. No refunds of fees will be given, just store credit for future use. Makeup classes will be done at teacher discretion. We appreciate notice that you will not be in class prior to class time.
