CLASSES

Whether you're a novice or experienced, we offer a full range of knitting and crochet classes and open knitting sessions at Strings & Stitches. If you're stuck on a project or looking for new ideas, stop in and see us. Class projects will include knitting, crocheting, garment construction, pattern reading, basic socks, beginning lace, felting, fair isle knitting, entrelac, domino knitting, and so much more! Classes are available days, evenings, and weekends (see schedule), and are updated monthly. To register for a class, pease call us at 706-698-KNIT (5648). Individual instruction is also available, upon request, at our hourly rates of $10.00/hour.

Strings & Stitches Yarn Shoppe

Greeting and well wishes! Spring Summer is almost upon us in the North GA mountains. Weather has been in the 80's and spring has either been non-existent or we will get back to it. Oh well...things move on at Strings & Stitches Yarn Shoppe.

Beginning Knitting continues to be a great beginning point in your journey for knitting skills. In this class you will learn to cast-on, knit, purl and bind off. We have several class schedules from which to pick. Wednesdays 10:30 to 12 with Kris, Thursdays evening from 5:30-7pm with Karen, or Saturday from 10:30-12noon with Darlene. Come get started on an adventure of a life-time! 4 classes for $30

On Thursdays, Kris continues her next series of classes in the Knitting Beyond the Basics classes. These classes will take the beginning knitter's skills to the next level and continue to develop your confidence in your own abilities. Call and we will cover all that this series of classes entail. 10:00 to 12noon. 4 classes for $40.

On Thursday afternoons, Kris will be doing a project class on the SWTC Braided Therapy Wrap. This is a great summer wrap to keep the air conditioning or cooler night off your shoulders. This is a kit and offers an array of bright colors from which you can pick. Great for the beginner and will teach the elements of provisional cast-on and dividing stitches. 3 classes for $30

Our new crochet instructor is back this month on Tuesdays. If Joan gets at least 2 students, she will be teaching BEGINNING CROCHET from 10:30-12noon and CROCHET SOCKS from 1-3pm. Each class will be $30. Call for information and registration. After classes Joan may be able to help with a clinic. Just call with your questions.

Once again, Karen will be teaching Basic Socks on Magic Loop or 2 circulars. This class covers 4 sessions and takes you through the basic architecture of sock construction. You will complete one sock and begin the second in class time. Come expand your skills. You must know how to knit, purl, ssk and pickup stitches. $40 for all classes

On Monday afternoon, We will be RUANA knitting. Come join Karen in the easy knit of a colorful and fun ruana. Made with a great combination of yarns, this ruana is for any skill level knitter. Come do a knit along from 1-4pm every Monday afternoon of May. FREE

Jane is offering her cute REVERSE STOCKINETTE SHELL with twisted stitch trim. This is a great summer knit and is also a good beginning knit project. Jane will teach this class in 3 sessions with a break between week 2 and 3 for knitting. $30 for all classes.

On Tuesday afternoon, Jane will teach her FLIP-FLOP SOCKS! Great for those summer months, these socks protect your feet and teach you how to divide for the toe. Join Jane from 1-3pm. $20 for 2 classes

Fridays will be CLINIC days. For the hourly instruction rate, you can schedule private instruction for your UFO (unfinished project) or pattern that you have wanted to do but feel a little unsure of doing on your own. Call the week before to reserve your time with an instructor. $10 per hour

As always, yarns and supplies must be purchased at Strings & Stitches Yarn Shoppe for all class projects. You may use your own needles. Paid registration will hold your spot in the class. 24 hour notice is required for non-attendance with store credit. No refund of class fees for classes you do not attend. Teachers will make arrangements with students for class information and assistance of unattended classes at their discretion.

Strings & Stitches also does private instruction at the hourly rate of $10/hour. Must schedule in advance. Just call to arrange.
