CLASSES

Whether you're a novice or experienced, we offer a full range of knitting and crochet classes and open knitting sessions at Strings & stitches. If you're stuck on a project or looking for new ideas, stop in and see us. Class projects will include knitting, crocheting, garment construction, pattern reading, basic socks, beginning lace, felting, fair isle knitting, entrelac, domino knitting, and so much more! Classes are available days, evenings, and weekends (see schedule), and are updated monthly. To register for a class, pease call us at 706-698-KNIT (5648). Individual instruction is also available, upon request, at our hourly rates of $10.00/hour.

Strings & Stitches Yarn Shoppe

May is almost over and June is quickly coming around the bend. Because the summer may get away from us before we know it, Janice and I wanted to update everyone on the state of business at Strings & Stitches Yarn Shoppe in Ellijay, Georgia. First, we will be closed to observe the Memorial Day holiday. Hope any of you that has yarn needs will get in to see us before Monday. Second, we will be changing the name of the business and the location, so we want you all to know so you check your information before coming to see us. We have had a problem with our name and another yarn shop out of state, so rather that fight it and waste money, we are going to the name Strings & Stitches Yarn Shoppe, same logo with the one word change. It has cleared the state and we pray there will be no other issues that will arise. Then, the end of the year, either December or January 2010, we will move. With the on-going problem with customer parking and the new “environment” in Spring Plaza, we have opted to move. We have found where we want to be, if the space does not get leased before we can firm up the space. No landlord wants to hold space if he can lease it earlier. So that is our big news! Hope everyone will like the new name and new location. The name change will be finished in the next couple of months.

Now, for the most important change of all, we are working with HelloNorthGeorgia.com and our email system. They have a way for us to migrate our newsletter to their system with monthly input of customer names that were regularly being missed. This has been a major frustration for Karen on a monthly basis. We hope this will get all of you in the system on a timely basis. If you receive the email and want to opt out, you can respond to the email and we will delete. To date we have been missing 50-60% of our customers in the newsletter, so we hope this will resolve the problem. Thanks for your patience!

Classes…we are still having classes this summer. However, if you do not see what you are interested in taking, just let us know and we will work with you one-on-one.

Jane will be teaching her Solo Shell on Tuesdays from 10-12noon. This is a great summer piece with a twining mock cable down the front to add interest and fit. Done in SWTC’s Terra, you will enjoy the feel and care of this summer basic. Class will start on June 2nd and last through the month. 3 classes for $30

Kris will be doing her beautiful ribbon short sleeve cardigan on Thursdays from 1-3pm. This is a great cardigan for summer with a cool hand and construction. It incorporated a beginning lace trim. You will enjoy this as a toss on cardi for those cool restaurants and church. 4 classes for $40 starting 6-04

From 10-12noon on Thursdays, Kris will be teaching the next in the Knitting Beyond the Basics classes. This is the Cable class with additional skills thrown in. Come learn with Kris and have fun to boot 4 Classes for $40 starting 6-04

Vickie will be available on Friday morning for lace knitting. If anyone is interested in scheduling time with her, just call and we will arrange. She is available for a class or individual instruction.

Karen will be teaching Basic Socks on Mondays from 10-12noon starting June 1st. This is your basic top down with circular needles or magic loop. 4 classes for $40

Beginning Knitting will continue at the regularly scheduled times:

Wednesdays 10:30 to 12 noon with Kris

Thursdays 5:30 to 7pm with Karen

Saturdays 10:30 to 12 noon with Darlene

These will begin the first week of the month and run for four consecutive weeks $30 for all four classes

As always, all yarns and supplies must be purchased at S&S Yarn Shoppe. You may use your own needles or hooks. Cancellation of classes will be accepted up to 24hours before the classes begin. Makeup classes will be given at the instructor’s discretion. Please call or come by to register for classes. Private instruction is available at a rate of $10 per hour. Crochet instruction available this month as private. Joan will return in July for classes on Tuesdays.
